Monday's announcement of the 2009 nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame may be of heightened interest to folks on the North Coast because the 24th annual induction ceremony will take place in Cleveland instead of New York City.

In a move that should surprise no one, Run D.M.C. and Metallica have made the final nominations for the RNR HOF. In what I view as a complete shock...Stevie Ray Vaughn did not. I'm really at a loss for words as to how he didn't make it in. He's a highly influential blues artist...and most importantly, he died pre-maturely which usually secures a spot on the ballot when they eventually become eligible. My other surprise is that the Beastie Boys (who made the nominee list last year) are not on it
