If nothing else, the Bible is literature that contemplates essential human themes: creation and death, loss and forgiveness. I don't mind thinking about those when I'm 30,000 feet above the earth in a metal tube powered by highly flammable gas.

In Western Pennsylvania, we're fairly comfortable with metal in all its forms. But in general, the brutal power, aggression and attitude of heavy metal and Jesus' message of faith and forgiveness doesn't, on the surface, seem like a match made in heaven.
